Joseph Cinnante

Owner | Founder

Joseph Cinnante was born on the small Mediterranean island of Mallorca, Spain. His love for animals was sparked as a child while growing up around Dobermans, German Shepherds, and many other exotic pets. All it took was the thrill of working a dog in protection for Joseph to become completely enamored with canine psychology. On the weekends during his teenage years, when most kids his age were hanging out with friends, Joseph would dive into the world of working dogs. He saved money to pay for his travel to Europe in order to further his education and be around the worlds best trainers.

At the age of 22 Joseph quickly became training director for one of the world’s largest canine protection companies. At the age of 24 he owned and operated a police dog company in the Czech Republic. He has successfully trained, delivered and integrated high caliber protection dogs into homes and businesses for over 15 years. Joseph has also trained dogs for military and police k9 units internationally throughout his career.

In 2013 Joseph founded Advanced Canine Systems with the goal of providing the highest quality dog training to the general public. He has merged his experience and techniques into a successful training curriculum that has benefited dogs and owners all around the world. He continues to be an innovator in the industry, setting standards for specialized training, behavior modification, and the development of working dogs. He has an extensive track record in protection sports and remains active competing internationally. Due to his success and his ability to teach others, Joseph has been called upon to give training seminars all over the United States, Asia and in Europe.

It has always been Joseph’s goal to open an all inclusive center for canine optimization and education. So in 2019 Advanced Canine Systems expanded it’s reach by opening the new ACS Training Facility & Pet Resort located in Westlake Village, CA.

Dog Care
"Our new Westlake Village facility is a canine paradise! This incredible place allows us to expand our capabilities and help even more dogs reach their full potential in life. We are excited and honored to have this opportunity and will continue to work tirelessly to set the bar for both dog training and animal care.”
"I feel that the pets in our lives make our families whole. We understand that you love and worry about your furry family members and want to offer the peace of mind to enjoy your time away knowing that loving, attentive, and well-trained staff are keeping your pets safe, healthy, and comfortable when they can’t be home with you. "

Alli Bernacki

Operations Manager - 17 Year Veteran of our Pet Resort

Alli spent the first 7 years of her life terrified of dogs, even avoiding visits to her grandmother’s house because of the 7lb yorkie that lived there. In second grade her parents decided to try bringing home a puppy in order to help her overcome that fear. Their crazy idea worked, and Alli has been an animal lover ever since. She began working professionally with animals at the Westlake Pet Motel in 2002. What started as a summer job quickly turned into a passion that has kept her working with pets in a variety of ways ever since. She volunteered with the Humane Animal Rescue Team caring for senior pets in need of forever homes, and worked as a veterinary receptionist at a local animal hospital. Bringing the compassion and knowledge she gained through these experiences strengthened her desire and ability to provide the highest level of care as she continued working as Manger of the Westlake Pet Motel.

Alli is thrilled that she has the opportunity to continue working at the same location as part of the Advanced Canine Systems team, continuing to serve the pet community and clients that have been like family to her. When she’s not working, Alli enjoys taking her two dogs on camping trips with her husband and surrounding herself with her many nieces & nephews as much as possible.

Andrew

Training Manager

Andrew was born and raised in the heart of Los Angeles and has always had an affinity for training animals. Never allowed to have a pet of his own, the next best thing was to try and train his family member's dogs. As a kid he frequented the Philippines where the streets ran rampant with stray dogs and other wildlife. After school he would go around and “train” random dogs that hung around the house or catch a gecko or two.

His focus got completely dialed in after he finally got a puppy of his own, and down the rabbit hole he went. Next he joined a local ring sport club and in no time he was frequently wearing the bite-suit. As an avid martial artist he enjoyed the parallels between training on the mats, and sparing in the bite-suit. The physicality, Speed, and precision required by both the decoy and the dog only helped  to fuel his obsession with dogs and their vast capabilities.

"There is nothing more rewarding than helping a dog become more confident and well behaved. I've seen first hand how improving people's relationships and communication with their dogs can literally save lives!"

Gina Plehn

Assistant Manager - 15 Year Veteran of our Pet Resort

Gina has been a lover of all animals since she was a young girl, spending hours each day with her Beanie Baby collection and wishing she could own and care for their real-life counterparts. In 2004 she happily accepted the opportunity to work as a kennel technician at the Westlake Pet Motel to help fulfill that dream. As her career progressed, Gina also spent time working in a doggy daycare and grooming salon. She realized her true passion is pet care and boarding, and chose to come back to work full time as the Assistant Manager of the Westlake Pet Motel.

Gina still maintains a love for animals of all types. Her home menagerie consists of dogs, cats, chickens, turtles, birds, and a rabbit! When Gina isn’t taking care of her own critters or client pets, she loves spending time at Disneyland and raising her foster children, Andre, Zoe, and Harrison.
